A Checklist For Parents To Keep Kids Safe In A Housing Society

Kids Safe App In a Gated Community

One of the most important criteria for selecting a home is safety. This is true for everyone, but even more important if you have children. Most families, particularly in urban areas, today prefer gated communities/housing societies over standalone buildings or independent houses for this very reason.

That said, however, security isn’t guaranteed. Parents still need to take certain precautions when their kids are out of sight. In this article, we will discuss a few ways parents can improve safety measures in their housing society.

1. Talk To Your Kid

An obvious point, but one that must be emphasized. You should talk to your kids about how they should interact with strangers, explain to them why they shouldn’t just wander about, especially at night. You can educate them about the consequences and give them a few tips on how to tackle such situations if they do arise.

2. Monitor Your Visitors

Monitor Your Visitors

A recent addition in gated communities is Apartment Management software. These products usually come with a Visitor Management feature that requires every resident to approve anyone that wishes to enter the community. It is a highly recommended product for all housing societies. It not only ensures that only authorized visitors to enter the community, but it also requires the security guard to ask for your permission to let your kid exit the community. By doing so, you will be more comfortable about leaving your kid unattended within the premises.

3. Security Hardware

Request the builder or housing society to install CCTV cameras in the whole community, especially isolated areas such as the gym or the swimming area. Assign a person to keep monitoring the things happening in and around the community.

4. Assign a supervisor

If you wish to give your children the freedom to move around in the community, you may still want to ensure that they are supervised. It would make sense for one parent from your kid’s circle of friends to take turns being in the compound every evening. This is particularly important if they are out at odd hours.

5. Worker’s Attendance

Track the attendance of all workers in the community. While traditional methods are easy to fudge, try using professional software. For example, you could try out a solution that lets you keep track of worker attendance by clicking their photographs on a daily basis.

Gated communities are advertised as safe havens. But a large number of visitors to such a community, as well as the high number of delivery executives that enter such places, there remains a need for parents to put in place measures to improve security for their children.
